The Device module of the admin console consists of functionalities such as - display the available devices, add device(individual/bulk upload), download device details to an excel file, view device details, archive the device, perform various actions on the devices like Sync device, Lock device, Remote ring, Stop ringing, Wipe device, Reboot, Set password, Remove password and Switch to kiosk/fully managed.


Display the available devices


1. Click on the Manage > Device icon on the left menu.


2. The available devices will be displayed in table view format as shown below with details like Alias name, Serial no., Make, Model, OS version, Online status, Last sync, Owner, Enrollment status, Custom id, Group name, Device state, IMEI, Mac id, User name and Enrolled on.


3. The Device List screen contains the following functionalities:

  • Add device – individual/bulk upload of devices can be done using the predefined excel template.
  • Download – The available device details can be downloaded as an Excel file.
  • Context Menu – A context menu will be displayed which has sub-menus like Sync device, Lock device, Remote ring, Wipe device, Reboot, Set password, Remove password and Switch to kiosk/fully managed.
  • Column chooser - The list of columns to appear in the table view can be enabled/disabled.
  • Pagination – If the no. of devices is large and exceeds the page, pagination will appear at the bottom using which previous/next set of devices can be viewed.
  • Items per page can be set by selecting the desired number of rows from the dropdown at the bottom. By default, the number of rows per page is set as 10.


Add device (Individual)


An individual device can be added by following the below steps.


1. Click on the Add device icon on the top of the Device List screen.


2. Add device screen will be displayed, select the Individual option. The screen as shown will be displayed.



3. Enter the following mandatory field values - Serial number, Brand, Model, Device type and Platform.


4. Click the Submit. A new device will be added to the device list with device state as 'New'.


Add device (Bulk upload)


Multiple devices can be uploaded by following the below steps.


1. Click on the Add device icon on the top of the Device List screen.


2. Bulk upload device screen will be displayed as shown below.



3. Click the Sample file download link. The sample file for the bulk upload in the required format will be downloaded.

 

4. Enter the details of devices in the required format and store it in a file location.


5. Click the Browse button. The file explorer popup will open, navigate to the file location and select the stored file. 


6. Once the file is selected, a preview of the file name will be displayed on the screen.


7. Click the Submit button. The details of multiple devices entered in the file will be uploaded and the newly added devices will be displayed in the Device List screen with the Device state as 'New'.


8. A Bulk upload logs files will be downloaded which contains the log of each device added.


View device details


The details of an individual device can be viewed in the View device details screen using the steps given below.


1. From the Device List screen, click on the three vertical dots at the end of the device row. 


2. A context menu will be displayed from which the 'View device'  option can be selected.


3. The device details screen as shown below will be displayed.



4. The top portion of the screen will display details of the selected device like Device name, User name, Group name, Last Sync, Group type, etc.


5. The additional device details will be displayed under Device Information section which contains the device's General information like Memory, Battery and Display details. It also contains Hardware, Software and Network details.

 

6. Quick actions section contains various actions that can be performed on the device as shown below.


7. When Geo location section is clicked, the location of the device will be marked in the map and Geo location history will be displayed in a table as shown in the screen below.



8. When Blueprint section is clicked, the Policy, Contents and Apps of the group will be displayed as shown below.



9. Device level exception for Policy and Apps can be done by updating the values and a Tag can be given to save the device level exceptions, which will be applicable only for this device.


10. By clicking the 'Restore to group' link at the top, the device level exceptions can be reverted back to the Group level policy and apps with a confirmation message as shown below.



12. When Compliance section is clicked, the compliance status and Risk status of the selected device will be displayed in a table as shown in the screen below.




Device – Actions


Various actions can be performed on the devices using the steps given below.


1. From the List view screen, click on the three vertical dots at the end of the device row.


2. A context menu will be displayed as shown in the screen below.



3. The following actions can be performed on the selected device from the context menu.

  • Sync now - will sync the current battery, memory, location, online status of the device.
  • Lock – will lock the device remotely.
  • Wipe device – will wipe the device completely to the factory reset condition.
  • Reboot – will reboot the device.
  • Remote ring - will ring the alarm sound of device remotely.
  • Stop ringing - will stop the alarm sound.
  • Set password – A password set popup will be displayed as shown below, the user can enter the required password and click the Save button. When the user swipes the device screen next time, the password set in the console should be entered to unlock the device.


  • Remove password – The set password will be removed from the selected device and password will not be required to unlock the device next time onwards.
  • Switch - A fully managed device can be switched to Kiosk and vice versa using this menu option.


Archive / Unarchive device


The selected unenrolled device can be archived/unarchived by following the below steps. 


1. From the Device List view screen, click on the three vertical dots at the end of the unenrolled device row.

 

2. A context menu will be displayed from which the Archive option can be selected.


3. Click on the Confirm button in the modal dialog box as shown in the screen below.



4. The selected device will be moved to the Archive status and will not be visible in the Device List screen.


5. Click on the Archive option in the left menu and click on the Device tab. The Device archive screen will be displayed with the list of devices archived from the Device List screen as shown below.



6. From the Archive Device List screen, click on the three vertical dots at the end of the device row.

 

7. A context menu will be displayed from which the Unarchive option can be selected.


8. The selected device will be moved back to the Device List screen and will not be visible in the Archive Device List screen.


Change user of device

The user of the selected device can be changed by following the below steps. 


1. From the Device List view screen, click on the three vertical dots at the end of the device row.

 

2. A context menu will be displayed from which the 'Change user' option can be selected.


3. Change user screen with the list of available users will be displayed as shown in the screen below.



4. Select a different user and click on the Submit button.


5. A warning message with the implications on changing the user of the device will be displayed as shown in the screen below.



6. When the Confirm button is clicked, the user of the device will be changed and the policies and apps of the new user will be applied on the device.


Download device details

The available device details can be downloaded as an Excel file by following the steps given below. 


1. Click on the Download icon on the top of the Device List screen.


2. A confirmation pop up with the selected device count will be displayed as shown below.



3. Click on the Continue button. The device details will be downloaded as an excel file in the local file path.


4. When the downloaded excel file is opened, the details as shown below will be available in the excel file.
